WestCorp Solutions is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to support our clients in Fort McMurray, AB. The Maintenance Engineer or Maintenance EIT reports to the Area Manager Maintenance - Reliability and specializes in the day-to-day challenge of returning the equipment to operational capability. The Maintenance Engineer/EIT focus is short term and responds to equipment failures by providing field troubleshooting support and timely work scopes. The Maintenance Engineer/EIT supports the safe and reliable operation of equipment by completing integrity assessments and recommendations to the CFT.

Tasks & Responsibilities

Asset Information:
Provide feedback to reliability engineers on deficiencies identified.
Update drawings for the CFT assets in the document management tool while complying with the management of change (MOC) process for as-found conditions.
Ensure BOM and Master data are updated when gaps are identified.
Review and provide input to check sheets and procedures.

Asset Strategy:
Supports sustainment of asset strategies.
Consult with reliability engineers for changes to asset strategies based on asset condition or as found damage.
Consult with reliability engineers to ensure min/max quantities are properly requested in SAP.
Update Asset strategies based on incident investigation and findings.
Ensure BOM and Master data are updated when gaps are identified.
Review and provide input on new and sustaining asset strategy.
Work with department Reliability Engineers for initiating material masters; BOM updates and OCC requests.

Condition Monitoring:
Review and collaborate with the corrosion monitoring group to review and endorse scopes for outages.
Develop and share knowledge of failures and configuration to determine best solutions.

Continuous Improvement:
Recommend opportunities for the reliability improvement plans. This includes material improvements, equipment design changes, bad actors, input in procedure changes and equipment strategy improvements.
Help identify emerging risks. Provide feedback, expertise and execute bad actor resolution plans upon request.

Day to Day Support:
Ensures that equipment in the CFT is maintained in a cost-effective manner.
Preparing non-RIK repair scopes for both on site and off-site work for all (P0, P1, P2, P4 and P3 if assigned).
Prepare RIK repair scope when engineering documentation is missing. Ensure documentation is updated and uploaded to the document control system.
Stewarding and collaborating with Reliability Engineers and Area Manager to recommend appropriate action to repair equipment.
Work closely with maintenance execution and planning personnel to solicit feedback on repair scopes.
Completing fitness for service assessments and provide recommendations on repair, replace or return to service.
Support the Incident investigation process as first point of contact for equipment investigations.

Equipment Repair:
Ensures high quality materials are received and installed.
In consultation with reliability engineers, work with QA, supply chain, and vendors to ensure that appropriate engineering review plans are established for fabrication of new/replacement equipment.
Provide SCM with material technical details as well as input on material cost and repair schedule. Provide vendor repair work scopes (if required) to facilitate vendor repairs of damaged components.

Equipment Status:
Monitors asset health and provides the Area manager with recommendations on assets.
Review of condition monitoring information for detection of equipment health issues or functional failures. When a pending failure is identified the maintenance engineer is responsible to intervene in collaboration with reliability, operations and maintenance.
Conduct periodic field walk downs as requested by operations and maintenance.
Provides recommendations to changes in operating & maintenance procedures to ensure adherence to equipment TOE.
Performs asset assessments if long term/multiple TOE exceedances result in asset life reduction or inability to meet next planned major maintenance event.
Lead/support troubleshooting initiatives providing a clear understanding of the problem and recommend corrective actions on simple issues through RCA.

Investigations:
Support Troubleshooting activities to recommend corrective actions on Level III and IV incidents.
Complete assigned Enablon as assigned to improve prevent future recurrence.
Responsible for taking all responsible action after the failure to bring the asset back to operation.
Any long-term action to be worked in collaboration with reliability or rotating engineers.

Maintenance Support:
Support Routine Maintenance Planning and Execution.
Provide first response to support maintenance troubleshooting on a daily basis.
Providing clarity on engineered scope of work.
Providing timely recommendations on found work through endorsed repair requests.
Supports planning by providing technical advice on repair plans based on scope of work.
Develop inspection scopes for pressure vessels.
Act as the advocate for Engineering PM and inspection.
Facilitate the deferral process and interval change when required.

Major Event and Turnaround:
Provide technical oversight of removal/installation of equipment or components.
Identify or review scope by the work list freeze date.
Develop work scope by the scope freeze date.
Support Turnaround planning by reviewing plans and schedules.
Complete found work repair scopes.
Guidance on any deviations required for SOW.
Prompt response to requests for information.
Completing fitness for service evaluations and determining whether to repair or return to service.

Management of Change:
Responsible to manage change and address risks associated with equipment / process changes.
Follow MOC process for any changes (temporary, emergency, or permanent).
Entering MOC recommendations into the system regarding equipment changes with completed risk ranking to manage equipment risks.
Responsible to be a change leader and/or MOC task processor for changes related to equipment condition, obsolescence, improvements, or availability of replacement components.
Participating in risk assessments such as risk review, PHA and PSSR as subject matter expert. Provide input into the CFT risk registry as required.
Support PSSR process as required.

Essential Experience and Job Requirements
Mechanical Engineering degree completed.
Registered with APEGA for P.Eng or EIT designation.
Minimum 2 year’s experience in industry setting.
Strong interpersonal & communication skills to deal with people form every level and background.
Able to collaborate with cross functional peers (Operators, Maintenance trades, Supervisors, Reliability engineers)
Resourceful and creative – strong problem-solving skills.
Possess strong understanding of mechanical assets.
Knowledge of Oil sand Extraction preferred.
