Tasks & Responsibilities:
Support the Project Manager(s) by preparing cost and progress reports that allow the assigned projects to be proactively controlled and managed.
Review existing project controls and systems. Where necessary, propose additional controls.
Audit purchases, funding requests to ensure compliance to capital plan and approved project budgets.
Audit, review, and adjust program budgets across the 5-year plan.
Audit requests for funding.
Facilitate and track budget adjustments within the portfolio.
Establish the control budget and baseline schedule for new projects.
Align project cost reporting with the control budget.
Facilitate and report on contingency draw downs.
Interface with site accounting and financial functions as needed to communicate and ensure compliance to current capital program guidelines and best practices.
Utilize available software to monitor and control project costs (CapMap, Excel, Oracle, OBIEE).
Essential Experience and Job Requirements:
Excellent organizational and time organization skills.
Ability to handle a large and varied workload.
Understand and application of Project Administration ethics and techniques in accordance with PMBOK.
Ability to review complex schedules and audit for completeness, practicality, and reasonable sequencing of tasks.
Ability to understand and manage work involving multiple disciplines.
Ability to lead project groups and guide projects.
Thorough decision-making and problem-solving skills.
Thorough technical writing skills.
Professional speaking abilities (i.e., speaking in public to groups, and via electronic media).
Ability to effectively communicate to technical and non-technical people.
Proficiency with estimating project costs and forecasting cash flows.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, OneDrive).
Familiar with Primavera scheduling software (P6).
Proficiency with Oracle Business Intelligence software is an asset.
University degree or technical diploma.
Must be eligible to pursue a PMP designation.
PMP designation or significant experience in managing projects is considered an asset.
Formal education or significant experience in effective communication is an asset.
Ability to work Underground is required.
Understanding of Canadian potash mining is considered an asset
