Project Controls Specialist - ID 244 - Saskatoon, SK

Our Potash client is currently looking for a Project Controls Specialist. The Project Controls Specialist will work closely with the Project Team, Construction Contractors and site personnel to ensure Project controls are in place and effectively implemented to control the project.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Support the Project Managers by preparing cost, schedule and progress reports
Review existing project controls and systems and propose additional controls when necessary
Audit purchases and funding requests to ensure compliance to capital plan and approved project budgets
Audit, review, and adjust program budgets across the 5-year plan
Audit requests for funding
Facilitate and track budget adjustments within the portfolio
Establish the control budget and baseline schedule for new projects
Align project cost reporting with the control budget
Facilitate and report on contingency draw downs
Interface with other departments
Take input from Project Manager(s) to track progress, modify schedules as necessary, and assist project managers in identifying risks and opportunities with their projects in relation to the program schedule
Responsible for integration / change management as the site Subject Matter Expert for integrated scheduling in Primavera (P6)
Develop and maintain key scheduling metrics
Track and share lessons learned and apply learnings to new projects

Qualifications and Skills:

Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to handle a large and varied workload
Understand application of Project Management principles and techniques in accordance with PMBOK
Ability to lead project groups and manage projects
Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
Strong technical writing skills
Effective communication and professional speaking abilities
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
Proficiency with Primavera scheduling software (P6) and Oracle Business Intelligence software is an asset
University degree or technical diploma with eligibility to pursue a PMP designation
PMP designation or significant experience in managing projects is an asset
Ability to work Underground
Understanding of Canadian potash mining is an asset
