Our Potash client is currently looking for a Senior level Project Controls Specialist. This candidate will be responsible for the financial integrity of their project. The ideal candidate will have high level experience with large scale projects in feasibility.

Essential Responsibilities of Project Controller:

Provide reporting and information to project management and operations as required
Strategic planning, budget reviews and risk analysis with upper management
Collaborate with project management team to complete monthly cost and profitability reporting
Prepares detailed analysis or review of aspects of the project as may be required.
Developing client relationships with equivalent peer group/contacts
Acts as the key contact during internal/external project audits including delegation of questions and sourcing of information.
Participate in the establishment of a detailed cost plan based on the project work breakdown structure (WBS);
In collaboration with stakeholders, prepare reference costs/budget for the project;
Ensure follow-up and integration of all changes made to the budget once approved;
Recognize all project-related commitments (purchases and contracts) and ensure follow-up on modifications;
Recognize all project-related invoices and ensure follow-up on approvals and payments;
Use the acquired value method for project control;
Analyze and control cost trends for the overall project;
Prepare various types of progress reports, namely cost reports, records and dashboards, based on the standardized criteria initially established in terms of content and format (budgets, engagements, variances, performances), and according to the approved coding structure;
Prepare master and detailed project schedules in collaboration with stakeholders, in order to determine specific objectives in terms of timelines for each sector of activity
Carry out project schedule follow-up and control through regular updates in collaboration with the project team;
Identify discrepancies and causes thereof in order to explain delays, recommend corrective measures or adjustments to the project planning, and inform the project director and other stakeholders on an ongoing basis;
Control the quality of project management deliverables in compliance with requirements;
Suggest various avenues for improvement to optimize management tools and processes related to their tasks

Qualifications and Skills:

7+ years of related accounting or analysis experience
Business/Accounting degree or diploma preferred.
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and financial applications including ERP software
Analytical skills with attention to detail
Ability to work independently and in a team environment, able to multi-task, set priorities and meet deadlines
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Well-developed interpersonal and organization skills
Relevant industry and experience would be an asset
Ability to lead, motivate, supervise and encourage other employees.
Proven ability to understand construction administration and contract commercial terms.
Experience with Primavera Software
